More poetry

We've been looking at shape poems over the past two weeks and you have all been so brilliant in writing imaginative and vivid poems.

I think it would be a lovely idea if you could share some of your poetry with each other.

You do not need to write the same poem as you did in class and I have put a photo below to give you some more inspiration in case you are stuck but if you would like to post your poems below, I would love to read them!

Remember to encourage your families and friends to have a look and leave you comments on your work too.

Think back to the success criteria we created in class to keep you on track and make sure you use all your senses to help you with your description.

  1. This iceberg lays on the very shimering, freezing water. So still, never melt. There could be different shapes for a cold iceberg but we might not know if there are different shapes well we might know. Every type of icebergs are well cold just like an icecube.

  2. Penguins waddle lonely along the fragile ice
Splash! When it goes for a swim it feels very nice
    Penguins waddle slowly and soothingly
    Penguins always swim, wonderfully
Penguins are as tall as a giraffe!

  3. Dear Miss Jolliffe,
    Here is my poem.

    The Iceberg

A jagged, gigantic lump of solitary ice, floating day and night,
Reflections in the rippled water - what a beautiful sight!
Lonely, it hangs over the crystal clear sea,
Serene as it looks, it’s also very bleak and chilly.
The bright sky is as blue as a peacock’s chest,
As idle as a statue, the iceberg takes rest.
It watches the yellow sun and the silvery moon,
It watches the morning, night and noon,
The iceberg silently stares at stars in the night sky,
Seeing occasional ships and birds passing by,
Trying to free themselves, the poor trapped Narwhals ,
Frozen in time, hearing the shrill cries of seagulls,
Little waves lapped and sprayed against its side ,
Tiny pieces breaking off and beginning to slip and slide.

  4. An iceberg is as white as a polar bears coat.
    An iceberg is very big.
An iceberg looks quite spiky but it`s not stripy.
    An iceberg is breaking down.
This place is in DANGER! save it now.

  5. An iceberg is an enormous blue-white floating mountain.
An iceberg slowly and smoothly slides across the freezing, wintery and cold waters.
An iceberg, icy and snowy, cracking and splashing into it's mirror reflection, smashing it to pieces.

  6. Esme’s Iceberg Poem

The iceberg is slowly floating across the calm, blue freezing water.

The iceberg is as white as chalk.

The iceberg CRACKS loudly waking the sleeping polar bear.

The iceberg is not lonely because it has lots of other iceberg friends.

The icy iceberg is incredible, impressive and inspiring.

  7. An icebergs is as cold as snow,
    Can't you see it float?
Its' reflection is in the crystal cool sea,
It is shimmering in the icy cold amazingly
It's so bright BUT we can't see it because there are weak sun rays with no light.
I wish I could see it and don't you agree with me?
