  1. The title of my favourite adventure story is called My Brother's Hot Cross Bottom. The author's name is Jeremy Strong. It is about a boy called Nicholas. His dad bought a incubator so he can hatch some fluffy, yellow, cheeping chicks. Meanwhile there's a new girl and she's trouble. Every time she comes to his house she causes mischief. The book is my favourite because it makes me laugh. It makes a great adventure story because it has description.

  3. The Case of the Captive Clairvoyant

My favourite adventure stories are about the Baker Street Boys. They are seven Victorian children who work for Sherlock Holmes solving crime. The books are written by Anthony Read and my favourite one of their adventures is called ‘The Case of the Captive Clairvoyant’.
In this story the Baker Street Boys have to help a girl called Mary. She performs in the Imperial Music Hall where Sparrow, one of the Boys, works. She does a mind reading act with her stepfather, Mystic Marvin, but he is cruel to her so the boys help her escape. They then find out that Marvin is working for Moriarty who is Sherlock Holmes’ arch enemy but Sherlock is away so the boys decide to try and solve the mystery. However Marvin gets murdered and one of the boys, Rosie, gets kidnapped. Wiggins, the leader of the gang, sets a trap and they rescue Rosie but Moriarty gets away, like he always does.
I like this story because I like the Baker Street Boys. They are all different but they are clever and cool and they solve the mysteries better than the adults. Lots of different things happen in the story like murder and kidnapping which is exciting.
This is a great adventure story because it has description, action and dialogue. Lots of exciting things happen and you have to keep reading because you don’t know what is going to happen.

    2. Can you describe what happens in the story briefly? Parker and Turnbull are MI5 agents. A bad car crash happens in the Lake District when a big light comes down from the sky and blinds the driver. The driver says she was taken by aliens. The agents investigate and dive in the lake where they find dead aliens and spaceships. Someone removes the spaceship from the lake. The agents discover it was the air force.
    3. Can you explain why it is one of your favourite stories? It’s got twists and turns and you never know what happens next. I like the subject of aliens and spies.
    4. What does it have that makes it a great adventure story? Good description and there is non-stop action.

  5. Dear Miss Jolliffe,

    Here are my answers:

    1. My most favourite adventure story is Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz.

    2. This story is about a fourteen-year old boy called Alex Rider, who has been looked after by his uncle since he was orphaned as a baby. Following the tragic death of his uncle, he begins to investigate his real identity and his quest for the truth leads him to Alan Blunt, the Chief Executive of Special Operations for the MI6, Britain’s espionage agency. Following a three-week crash course in combat techniques with SAS Commandos, he finds himself thrown headlong into the gaping jaws of death as part of his first mission, where he faces a spectacular array of villains. He is investigating the same suspicious multi-millionaire (Herod Sayle) as Ian Rider was, before his assassination. Sayle is giving away thousands of his ‘Stormbreaker’ computers, each loaded with the lethal smallpox virus, designed to kill unsuspecting schoolchildren with one click of a button. Having been bullied as a foreigner by the Prime Minister in school, Sayle had masterminded this evil plot to take his revenge. Alex manages to stop him, but he returns again, and in an unexpected twist, Sayle is murdered by the Russian contract killer, Yassen Gregorovich, the man who had killed Ian.

    3. I love this book, as this is my first ever spy story - one of my favourite genres that is almost always full of thrill and suspense, with lots of awesome, state-of-the-art gadgets (such as an acid zit cream) and fast-paced action. I have always liked James Bond, and in Alex Rider, I can almost picture James Bond as a fourteen year old.

    4. This is a great, gripping adventure story, which leaves you hanging off a cliff as each chapter comes to an end. There are vehicle chases, near death experiences, dangerous wildlife being kept as pets, labyrinthine underground lairs, death traps, assassins, many unexpected twists and turns, and finally ending with an exciting climax. Overall, this book was so good, it inspired me to go on to read the other books that are in the series.

  7. My favourite adventure story is 'Cliffhanger' by Jacqueline Wilson. The main character is Tim and he goes to an Adventure Camp but he didn't want to. He does lots of different kinds of sport with his new best friend Biscuits. He helped his team win a tricky game.
Cliffhanger is my favourite story because it is full of friendship. At the beginning Tim was scared and worried but by the end he was happy and excited because he had had fun and had made new friends.
This is a good adventure story because I wanted to keep reading and to know what happened next.It was very exciting and interesting. Each chapter starts with a postcard written by Tim to his mum and dad telling them what is happening and how he's feeling. It gave me an idea about what was going to happen in the story and made he want to read on.

  9. The story which I have chosen is called the Hobbit and it is written be J.K.K. Tolkien

The story is about one dragon called Smaug, who takes all the treasures of the dwarfs. Smaug isn’t some friendly dragon of some kind, he is as ferocious as an abominable snowman. The adventure is basically the journey of the dwarves to get all their great, precious valuables back. They accompany a hobbit named Bilbo Baggins. As days passed they faced different types of terrible dangers like the Spiders of Mirkwood, the goblins, the trolls and many more nightmares. As they reached the place where all there money was kept they didn’t know that getting the money from the fearsome dragon was not that easy…

Anyway, somehow they managed to face all the horrifying things over there and returned safely home.

It is one of my favourite stories because it has Action in it. It is always fun to read and it just grips me to my seat when reading. I just love it. I am as still as a statue when I read this book, anxiously waiting to see what would happen next.

It makes a great adventure story because it has a very exciting and action packed middle. A bewildering Opening and quite a fine Ending. J.K.K Tolkien is a very good author. It makes me want to read all the three parts of ‘The Lord of the Rings.’

Can you tell me when we should start a new paragraph?
