This week in Literacy we have been focusing on books written by Julia Donaldson. She has written some amazing stories! Write a description of your favourite story. Don't forget to describe the setting, the characters, the problem and the resolution!
The story that I chose was called the Gruffalo. The story is set in the deep dark woods with the fresh green trees swaying with the blowing winds. It was very tranquil and lonely. The Characters are the cunning little mouse with cunning plots and the Gruffalo in the deep dark woods. He is very huge. The story is about the mouse walking down in the deep dark woods bumping into other creatures that want to invite the mouse to their houses when he says he is going to have lunch with a made up character called the Gruffalo. He also says a description of the Gruffalo like he has knobbly knees and turned- out toes and all other statements. Then he says where he is meeting him and that place is somewhere near to the creatures home. Finally he says that his favourite food is something including the animal in it. Then once the animal is gone the mouse will laugh and will say that there is no such thing as a Gruffalo. Things follow on and keep on going when the mouse is walking down joyfully when he suddenly bumps into a strange creature. The mouse describes it and then knows it’s a Gruffalo! The Gruffalo says ‘’my favourite food is mouse on a piece of toast. You are so tiny.” The mouse replied ‘’who calls me tiny? I am the scariest animal in the forest” lied the mouse ‘’you just follow behind me and I’ll show you” said the mouse, so they went and every animal they saw they got frightened of the Gruffalo and ran away. The Gruffalo thought it was real that the mouse is really the scariest animal in the forest, but it is actually the Gruffalo who is scaring people away. After that the mouse lies that his favourite food is Gruffalo crumble which drives the Gruffalo away. Finally the mouse finds what he mostly wants, a nut. Siddharth
My most favourite book written by Julia Donaldson is ‘The Gruffalo’ (illustrated by Axel Scheffler), which has won many prizes for children’s literature. It is also special to me as this was the first book I read completely on my own.
The story is set in the deep dark woods, which is strewn with rocks and has a little stream flowing through it. The main character is an intelligent and confident little mouse, who uses his imagination and words to protect himself from predators that he encounters while walking through the forest.
The fox, the owl and the snake that he comes across one by one, try to invite him back to their houses for a meal, but actually intend to eat him. However, the mouse comprehends their real intentions and declines their invitations. To prevent any further persuasion, he creates a fictional creature called the ‘Gruffalo’- a big brown monster with appalling features – who he says he is meeting nearby, also adding that the animal he is talking to is the Gruffalo’s favourite food. This scares the animals and makes them flee to their houses, and the mouse continues on his journey.
Ironically he himself then actually runs into the Gruffalo, with all its frightening features that he had made up, who threatens to eat him. However, he tells the Gruffalo that he is the scariest animal in the forest, and to prove that, he asked the Gruffalo to follow him. As they walk through the woods they meet the same animals that had bothered the mouse earlier, and all of them run off at the sight of the Gruffalo. But the Gruffalo is really impressed and astounded with the mouse’s toughness. So when the mouse wants ‘Gruffalo Crumble’ as his tummy is rumbling, the Gruffalo turns and flees, leaving the mouse to enjoy the nut he found, in peace.
I like the book because the story is enjoyable and uses lots of good adjectives. I also like the simple language, repetitive rhyming and the colourful illustrations...ISHAAN

I think your writing has lots of discription and you've made shure your writing makes sence you could do some more adjectives.
