The Werepuppy- writing a letter

In class we have just finished reading the ‘Werepuppy’ by Jaqueline Wilson. We are also learning how to write letters. Imagine you are Micky; write a letter to the lady who sold Wolfie to him. Make sure you thank her and explain how owning Wolfie has changed things for you. Post your letter on the blog.

Can you also leave 2 stars and a wish for someone else’s letter?

  1. Dear lady,
I am writing to say how Wolfy is getting on .
He has been good and bad .The bad thing he has done is wet the floor so mum did`t let him sleep with me,I wished he did.

    1. Saleha, I like your post and here is my opinion.
Star- That you used first person very well and expanded the letter a bit by saying I wished he did.
Star- You said why he was good and bad
Wish- I wish you could write a bit more in your letter

    2. * I like that you have started to think about the layout of a letter, don't forget the address though.
      * I am please that you have started to explain the point that you have made in your second sentence.

My wish- remember to make a point, explain and then expand in every paragraph.

    Dear Mrs Webb,
I am writing to thank you for giving Wolfie to me.
It really made a big difference to my life by coming to me when I need help and helping me so much all along to make my life as bright as the sun.

If you hadn’t given him to me, I would have been bullied by Darren and his gang. It also made a difference because after he bit my wicked, greedy sister Marigold, she did not tease me any more and at the end, instead of teasing me, she suddenly became friends with me. Life was troublesome before and has sorted out a lot after he came. It strongly made me forget that I was scared of dogs.

It helped me prove that I am not a sad old baby anymore and would be like a normal boy not afraid of anything. It has also helped me gain lots of courage and confidence.

That’s why I owe to say thanks to you for making a great big difference in my life.

    See you soon!

    Mickey

    Dear Miss Webb,

I am writing to thank you for giving me the dog the other day. I have decided to call him Wolfie because he reminds me of a baby werewolf. I am getting on very well with him. Although he was getting into quite a lot of mischief at the beginning, at the moment he has adapted himself nicely to our household. He has changed from an indignant, naughty stray dog to a likeable friendly puppy.

He has made a lot of difference to my life, which was miserable and nightmarish with all the teasing from my annoying, selfish little sister and the bullying from the mean, nasty gang of troublemakers in school. He has also helped me overcome the overwhelming fear of werewolves and dogs.

After the biting incident in the shop, my sister Marigold has made an effort to change. She even stood up for me to the school bullies, Darren and his gang, before Wolfie came to our rescue leaping savagely at them like a great grey dart.

So thank you again for giving me Wolfie who has brought such great joy and happiness into my life, and has helped me grow up into a courageous and confident boy.

In a few weeks time I am going on holiday with my family and Wolfie is coming with us as well.

I look forward to visiting you in the future.

    Yours sincerely,

    Micky.

  4. * You have used complex sentences effectively, for example, when you begin the sentence with a connective (after, although)
    * This letter is effectively organised.

My wish- In the 5th paragraph you have stated a point but remember to explain and expand.

    Dear Miss Webb,

I am writing to thank you for giving me the grey, frightening dog yesterday. I have named him Wolfie because he looks like a werewolf. He gets into mischief at certain times but I'm sure he will settle in soon.

After he bit my annoying sister Marigold, she has started to make peace with me. Wolfie also protects me by leaping at Darren and his rude gang.I don't know why Dad doesn't like him.Its probably because he doesn't like me.Wolfie has made a great difference to my life and has helped me prove that I am not a sad, weak boy but a strong, courageous boy.

Thank you again for giving him to me,and,as I said,he has made a big difference to my life.I will keep him forever,no matter what.

    Yours Sincerely,
    Micky

    Dear Mrs Webb

I am writing to thank you for the terrifying werwolf looking puppy you gave me yesterday he has proved Im not a little silly winey baby but a big strong boy who is full of never ending careering courage I have named him wolfy because it of the silly werwolf's I used to be frightened of.

My mean sister marigold stopped teasing me when Wolfy came home maybe it was the bite it could be she dosnt want to get bitten by him anymore wolfy has made loads of things easier for me I was going to be clobbered by the EVIL the DREADED Darren and his rude gang wolfy knew and leapt like an athlete out of the car and snarled and growled scarcely in Darren's BIG MEAN FACE! Darren never threatens me anymore bit Im worried he will strike back some day.

    Dear Mrs Webb,
I LOVE Wolfie BUT dad is sometimes quite angry with him and a mean boy at my school called Darren got chewed to pieces because he was VERY rude to me so Wolfie came to the rescue! Mum regrets having Wolfie and I don't, Marigold has finally stoped teasing me now because Wolfie bit her.
    You Sincerly

  13. Stars:
You have started to think about the layouts of a letter.
I like that you have used connectives.

    Wish:
Next time, try to write in paragraphs and remember a letter isn't two sentences!
